I accept both insurance and private pay options. Here are some important things to consider when deciding whether or not to use your insurance provider for our therapy sessions:
It is important to keep in mind that insurance companies require information regarding your diagnosis and treatment planning, which means that your information may not be completely confidential.
Not all clients who seek or desire therapy will have a diagnosable mental health condition, and I do not believe this should impact access to care for those who desire maintenance of their mental health, stress management, or to improve their sex lives and relationships.
As a mental health care provider, I am required to provide a diagnosis in order to bill insurance for services, which may limit the work we are able to do together and potentially impact future insurance coverage.
If your privacy and freedom to engage in therapy that is individualized is important, you may choose to pay privately for therapy.
I do have a limited number of reduced fee appointments available if cost is a barrier for you. Please reach out if you have any questions!
If you would like to use your insurance provider, I currently accept Blue Shield PPO, Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (PPO), United Healthcare, and Aetna for payment of individual therapy services*
If you are not a member under any of these plans but are covered under another carrier, a superbill may be provided upon request so that you may file for out-of-network benefits with your insurance carrier.
Many insurance companies may provide out-of-network reimbursement for therapy services, but it is best for you to contact your carrier to ask:
Do I have coverage for out-of-network mental health outpatient visits?
Do I need to meet a deductible for out-of-network benefits?
What percentage of these visits would be covered with my out-of-network benefits? (Specifically, it is important to ask if your insurance provider offers coverage of CPT codes 90791, 90837, 90832, and 90834).
*Please note that I am no longer accepting insurance for payment of couples therapy services, but I am happy to discuss options, so please contact me for more information.
