Online Individual Therapy in Texas & PSYPACT States
I offer affirming individual therapy for clients throughout Texas and 38 PSYPACT states to help you navigate a variety of emotional concerns.
Many people seek individual therapy in order to have a confidential space to discuss confusing or uncomfortable feelings or situations they are encountering in the present, or to resolve an unsettling past experience. As a clinical psychologist, I am a firm believer in self-care and having a safe space to learn how to process, cope with , and communicate effectively through these difficulties. It helps to feel heard, seen, and understood in moments of frustration and crisis. Individual therapy offers you the opportunity to focus on your needs by setting aside time to explore what is important to you and start creating your best life.
Here are just some of the things I can help you navigate through online individual therapy:
Sex & Relationship Issues
Whether you’re single, dating, married, consensually non-monogamous, polyamorous, or refusing to subscribe to any particular relationship label, sex and relationships are likely a big part of your life and experience. Sex therapy is not just for couples! An important part of sex and relationships is being comfortable with yourself, your body, communication, and asking for what you want — or discussing what you don’t want. It can be daunting to discuss sexual issues with a partner when so many shaming messages are deeply imbedded in our families and societal norms. I can help you to sort through your own fears and biases regarding sex and relationships to give you the knowledge and power to discover your own path to more fulfilling and satisfying sexual conversations and experiences.
Anxiety and Mood Concerns
In today’s fast-paced, social media crazed world, anxiety is extremely common. From worrying that we don’t measure up to family or social standards to test anxiety to body shame — anxiety exists in a variety of forms. Our brains and our bodies are designed to manage perceived danger through the “fight or flight response” (sympathetic nervous system), but we run into difficulties when our brains perceive everyday stressors as “dangerous.” In the absence of effective coping strategies, these stressors can wreak havoc on our sleep, relationships, ability to work, and so much more. Ongoing anxiety can lead to health concerns and even depression. Our work in therapy would focus on assisting you to release your attachment to persistent negative fears, thoughts, and ideas so that you can reconnect with your values, relationships, and purpose in a way that is meaningful to you.
Life Transitions
The Greek philosopher Heraclitus makes some great points when he shares with us two valuable ideas: 1) the only constant in life is change and 2) hardship drives this change. When faced with a major life transition, the mountain of consequences can seem overwhelming. This can mean job loss, divorce, loss of an important person or relationship, becoming a parent, getting married, moving to a new city (or just down the street), taking on greater responsibility at work, etc. As you can see, life transitions can be positive or negative, but the challenges evoked by the change can be staggering. It is important to understand how and why this life transition is affecting you negatively so you can learn and grow through the change to become the strongest version of yourself. Growth through adversity is empowering, and you are stronger than you think.
